Don’t Dump In Storm Drains

It is a common misconception that storm drains lead to a wastewater treatment plant, but the water entering drains receives no treatments and is discharged directly into the closest waterway.

As stormwater runs over the ground, it picks pollutants and debris that have been carelessly or illegally deposited onto the streets or directly into the storm drains.

Grass clippings, leaves and other debris should never be swept into a storm drain or onto the street. They provide excess nutrients and promote unnecessary algae growth. Additionally, yard waste has a tendency to clump in storm drains, that can cause flooding or drainage issues in the streets of our neighborhood.

Please be mindful to our ponds and help our neighborhood by not blowing grass into the street or placing your yard waste near the storm drains

Report illegal dumping to 630-CITY (2489) or use the MyJAx App for Apple or Android mobile devices.
